| Description: |
The German Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit), with
its headquarter in Nuremberg, has 178 local employment offices (Agenturen
für Arbeit) throughout Germany that offer services to job seekers
and employers.
A specialised department within the German Federal Employment Agency is the International Placement Services. Its headquarters is located in Bonn and there are 12 locations throughout Germany. The regional centres (International Placement Services) also form the Euroguidance centres Germany. They offer assistance and placement worldwide for clients – from Germany abroad and from other countries into Germany. The objective is to promote educational and professional mobility and experience throughout Europe. European vocational guidance is supported by the European Commission’s Education and Culture Directorate. Each of the International Placement Services co-operates with one or more countries in the EU, the EEA, with Switzerland, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria and maintains close contact with partner organisations in these countries. These co-operation arrangements enable the advisors to give their clients access to a wide range of information on studies in the partner country, training opportunities, issues concerning recognition or equivalence of training certificates, and much more. There are 31 advisors throughout Germany, offering vocational guidance face-to-face, by phone and via E-Mail with a view to encouraging German citizens to take advantage of training openings or work placements abroad. They also provide information about opportunities in Germany for students and young professionals from abroad. Other activities run by the centres include road shows, job fairs and workshops to promote mobility in Europe. Among other useful tools on our website you will find the “KURSNET” database which offers information on some 600,000 training events at all levels as well as study opportunities in Germany and some neighbouring countries. Under “Berufenet” there are detailed descriptions of many occupations. |
